Interview with a CCNY college student
By Maryelis Mendez
Today we have a special guest this individual is a wonderful person, she is a CCNY college student who has a great future, she is also a person with many expectations and goals that she is going to overcome in a short period of time.
Who are you?
My name is wilianna then, im 19, a first-generation Dominican American in my family, and well yeah ig that’s it.
Where are you from?
I was born in New York, Manhattan to be specific. I’ve lived here most of my life, I did for some time stay in Rhode island but after the age of 5, New York has always been home to me.
How do you see yourself?
I would say I just see myself as just a regular teenager, I just go to school ,work, idk not much to do when you gotta pay now for the next 10 years of your life.
What are your expectations of life?
I try to not have expectations of life, it’s likely to disappoint i’ve seen. But ig i have more expectations for myself, but those are like standards that i hold myself to try and control my life more, i think that’s how i hold life to my expectations.
What are your goals?
Hmm, if i had to say one of my goals i’ve always had was to be able to travel at some point and be financially free, not have to worry about expenses so then i can experience all the luxuries of life.
When did you start to set your goals?
I don’t remember specifically what grew my love and desire to want to travel but I do know that as a child who grew up in a lower middle class family with one parent and 4 kids. Money is usually if not always tight. I hope one day all the work I put into my career and school pays off so I can finally feel free of this economic system.
How did you set your goal?
Well, the easiest answer to that would be by believing it’s possible. I know that my hard work will pay off and I know it’s a matter of time before I’m what most people would think is a “hippie”. But by first believing it is already destined to happen I push myself to become the person who would live and prosper in that lifestyle.
Why did you set those goals?
To be different, as a child I always used to say to my family I was never gonna end up like them, keep in mind they’re all highly religious and married with multiple kids. I want to be free and sadly I know in a corporate america we live in you need a career to do that. So that’s what I’m doing just to be free.
To conclude this interview I would like to add that Wilianna is a wonderful person who has her future set for success, and whatever she sets her mind to, she will achieve as she desires.
